BeeTru- Sherry Bougard

My mom once went to a shelter.

That is what flooded my thoughts as I heard women speak of their past, present, and future as survivors of domestic violence. The room was packed with women and men having a Passion for Purple. I sat in awe as my former high school classmate told her intimate story of resilience and victory.
Sherry Bougard is the visionary behind BeeTru, a nonprofit organization aiming to put an end to domestic violence. On September 24, 2016, BeeTru held its first fundraiser dedicated to inspiring and educating all about this epidemic. Taking away shame and offering a way out for present victims was another resounding theme as many shared their testimonies of pain to joy. We were encouraged to BeeTru helping all live a life free from abuse and fear.

It was intense. It was hard. It was good.

As I drove away from this passionate event, I cried tender tears.

My mom once went to a shelter, and I had a testimony too....
